I am proud to announce that just over 2 weeks ago (May 23rd), Marco and I arrived in Chicago with our precious girl. Jessica is finally home and she is just adorable!
I have to apologize for being so tardy in updating the blog - my sister and her family were visiting from London (they were here to welcome Jessica into the US!!) and we have been busy sight-seeing with them! Jessica has been to Milwaukee Zoo, she has been swimming at our club in Bannockburn, she has visited our summer house in Galena IL, she has taken a stroll at the Chicago Botanic Gardens AND she is now a full member of Kohl Childrens Museum in Glenview IL!!! She really has already embraced a lot of the jewels of living in this great city.
Last week we took her to her first US pediatrician's appointment. She is doing really well. She now weighs 20lb 4oz.... she is on the chart but in the lower 25 percentile for weight and height. Our little pickle will never be anything other than petite!
We are missing our friends in Guatemala terribly - and pray that their cases will move along quickly and they will get better news soon. Especially Debbie and Maria who so deserve good news and to get back into PGN. They are in our thoughts and prayers every day.

3. Birth certificate is issued
4. Jessica's BM signs over custody
5. Jessica has basic physical and first immunizations
6. Jessica's BM also sees a doctor and has blood tests
7. We receive Jessica's referral (actually this came early!)
8. We accept Jessica's referral (August 14th, 2007) and sign POA
9. Our POA is registered in Guatemala
10. The lawyer submits all docs to Family Court
11. The lawyer requests DNA testing be performed on the birth mother and Jessica
12. Family Court social worker reviews our dossier, interviews Jessica's BM & sees Jessica in foster care. Jessica's BM signs consent for adoption for second time

Congratulations!! Glad to hear you guys are home.
Lorraine~
hello!! We have been thinking about you so much. My kids ask me ALL the time about Jessica. They (and I) want to see pictures. Brady asked me just today if I thought she had any teeth yet. I know that you are so grateful - as are we - to be home. I am thrilled that you arrived home only one day later than your sister and mom. God is good! Give Jessica a big hug from all the Dempsters!
Love,
Meghan
YEA! Welcome home! You are one busy mama, but isn't it FUN?! Can't wait to see pictures!

Lorraine,
I kept checking your blog to see if you made it home with Jessica. We were the family that met you at the Embassy in Guatemala when you were trying to get that form submitted and they were giving you such a hard time. I am sure you met several families at the Embassy. We were the one that also used CCI.
Glad to see all your persistence and hard work paid off in getting Jessica's pink slip and bringing her home.
Congratulations and welcome home!!
