Proud Mummy

Yesterday in the office I was able to get my first taste of just how good it feels to "show off" your baby. I shared our blog with my work friends, and of course they all agreed that our daughter is adorable! Many also commented on how uncanny it is that Jessica has such a resemblance to Sammy!

Marco and I are hoping to visit Jessica for the first time on the weekend of Sept 7th, but of course I want to hop on a plane this weekend - patience never being my strong point. This afternoon I took Jessica's medical report and photographs to our Pediatrican for her to review and the good news is that Jessica is indeed a semmingly healthy, bonnie baby girl, with all her measurements and weight being what they should be. The Pediatrician also gave me an infant girl measurement chart for us to track her progress in the coming months.

In speaking to our adoption agency yesterday, we learnt that during our visit trips to see Jessica we can have full custody of her whilst there! How wonderful to think that in 3 weeks not only will I be holding her - but I can do everything for her for the entire stay!

Last night I realized that a bunch of the clothes we have bought for her will already be too small. Oh well I guess her foster mother will make good use of them for her next foster child.

It is impossible to articulate how challenging this waiting period is going to be. To know my daughter is so far away, out of my care and totally dependant on a stranger to me is very hard. But each time I look at her little face (photos are now displayed on my bedside table, in my office, on the fireplace in our living room and in our kitchen!) I just have to smile :-)

And finally we meet...

And finally we meet...
